Building technology
Buildings and building technology play a key role in the transformation process. The building sector accounts for almost 40% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions and half of final energy demand. Consumption must be reduced by at least 40 % by 2050 in order to enable an energy supply from renewable sources.
We see the building as an element in efficient neighborhoods and cities. Efficient use and operational optimization as well as monitoring and energy management are just as much a part of our topics as efficient building technology, renewable energies and energy storage.
Our research topics:
The building as a whole:
- Passive energy efficiency
- Efficient building technology
- Efficient building operation
- Corrosion in heating and cooling systems
Buildings and neighborhoods in the energy system of the future:
- Renewable energies and storage
- Grid-responsive buildings and demand-side management
- Mobility
