Project description

Initiated by the ENTREE100 initiative of the Heide Region Development Agency (EARH), the Heide region is developing into a regional focus of the future economy based on renewable energies and hydrogen.

As part of these developments, a nationally recognized research and transfer center for energy transition technologies was established at the FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences in 2018 with the help of the Campus 100 project: the Institute for the Transformation of the Energy System (ITE). The aim of the institute is to provide an infrastructure to enable increased participation of the state in energy transition projects and to make the know-how available for knowledge transfer and the establishment of companies in the region.

The CAMPUS 100-II project has continued the successful establishment of the Institute for the Transformation of the Energy System at the FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences since 2023. The institute will be further expanded and developed both structurally and thematically. The planned consolidation will be supported by the acquisition of long-term third-party funding.

As of 01.07.2024, 25 people were employed at the institute (excluding Professors). ITE now cooperates with over 60 institutions and companies throughout Germany via research projects. This means that the transfer of knowledge to teaching and companies (and from companies to ITE) at FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences has been significantly expanded and can be successfully harnessed for the region.
